Modern Wash West Condo Has A Calming Vibe
By: Ashley Fee
Our listing at 915 Clinton #201 stole our hearts immediately. From the open living/dining area, to the serene outdoor space – each and every detail of the condo was thought about carefully by our seller, Colleen.
A freelance designer for a design firm in Philadelphia, Colleen is always looking at furniture, finishes, and accessories. Her biggest inspiration comes from traveling and exploring new hotels and restaurants. She also finds it incredibly easy now to access work she admires from other designers on Instagram – and she finds so many sources of daily inspiration! Some of Colleen’s favorites include JH Interior Design, Jersey Ice Cream Co, and Amber Interiors.
When Colleen first moved to this apartment in 2006, she made some design choices that didn’t mesh with her design ideals as her style changed. Colleen took on the big challenge to pull back, and bring her home into a more soft and neutral state.
The wallpaper was her jumping off point, creating a beautiful focal point throughout the open living space. For vintage goods, she used travel finds, First Dibs, and Etsy – and for new furniture and decor she scoured shops like Anthropologie, Serena & Lily, Jonathan Adler, and the Restoration Hardware.
When we asked Colleen for her design advice on what she thinks completes a space, she was positive about her answer right away. “Lighting. The right lighting can really draw out what’s great about a room and poor lighting can downgrade a space. Our overhead recessed lighting almost never gets turned on! Also, layer in a few unexpected or offbeat touches (textile pattern, color, interesting accessories) for personality.”
