Local Philly Developer has an Eye for Detail

Blending old Philly charm and new design trends seamlessly…
It’s rare to find a row home rehab that blends old Philly charm and new design trends seamlessly, but for Kelly Straka of Custom Philly Homes it comes second nature. Kelly has been working in the home design business for 8 years, working primarily with builders to stage finished homes. As her business relationships grew, they began bringing her in earlier and earlier to consult on everything from finishes to flooring.
After successful consulting gigs, Kelly decided to do it on her own. Over the course of 2 years, she’s flipped 10 homes, carefully designing each and every one with the future homeowners in mind.
She primarily works in Fishtown, using her knowledge of the neighborhood and its demographic to her advantage. When we sat down to talk, Kelly mentioned that her goal is to make sure every detail is well thought out, and that she’s giving new homeowners something to be proud of. Recently, someone told her not to worry so much about every little thing and we think her response speaks volumes about the type of developer she is, “I am worried about the tiny little things because that’s what makes a house a home.”
Kelly’s recent project is surely a stunner – featuring a bright and sunny backyard, wide plank flooring, an incredible amount of natural light… and don’t even get us started on the tile and finishes throughout the entire home.

Kelly’s advice to future flippers? “Be confident in yourself. Do your research – really do your homework. Be open and ready to learn along the way, mistakes are part of the process.”
